Our lancing center is the place to go for both a prescription blood draw and a preventive blood test.

LABORATORY MEDICINE SERVICE AZ DELTA

Delta AZ’s Clinical Biology Department performs laboratory analyses in the following subfields: clinical chemistry, hematology and coagulation, microbiology, toxicology, hormonology, metabolic disorders, infectious and non-infectious serology, molecular diagnostic techniques, point-of-care testing.

In addition, we offer diagnostic and technical assistance in the selection of analytes and the interpretation of analysis results.

These laboratory tests are done on various samples from patients: blood, urine, stool, wound fluid, pus, cerebrospinal or spinal fluid, gastric fluid, respiratory fluid, and so on.

A team of clinical biologists and A1-trained medical laboratory technologists (MLT) ensures the quality of services.

The clinical biologists of the lab are also available for advice on laboratory tests. In this way, the lab supports the attending physician in the diagnosis and follow-up of his patients.

The Clinical Biology Service at AZ Delta aspires to permanently provide high-quality laboratory diagnostics and patient-oriented and efficient services. This is not only limited to patients and healthcare providers in AZ Delta. Other hospitals, laboratories and physicians can also call on them.

The laboratory has a fully developed quality system with RIZIV recognition and with accreditation according to the international ISO 15189 standards, granted on the basis of regular audit by external experts.

To this end, the laboratory participates in several external quality control programs. Internal quality control materials are of course systematically deployed.

NIHDI accreditation

The laboratory is approved by the NIHDI with approval number: 8-36609-16-998.

ISO accreditation

The laboratory is accredited to ISO-15189 through BELAC (382-MED).

The Laboratory Medicine service has 120 staff members. An average of 1,250 prescriptions are processed on weekdays for inpatients or outpatients and requests are forwarded by other laboratories.

The number of samples on a typical working day hovers around 4,000. With an average of 5 analyses performed per sample, that becomes about 20,000 analyses performed per working day.

The vast majority of analyses are performed by some 20 different types of lab machines, which are linked online to the lab information system.

A 24-hour permanence is assured for the performance of common analyses of general chemistry, hematology and blood coagulation.
